One of the South Korean media, the Joong Ang Daily, said that Indonesia was not worthy to host the 2023 Asian Cup.

As is known, South Korea is also included in the bidding list to host the 2023 Asian Cup along with Indonesia, Australia and Qatar.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) accepted the submissions of the four countries to replace China, which decided to resign because of its Zero-Covid policy in their country.

Joong Ang Daily tried to explore one by one the chances of the prospective host of the Asian Cup next year. Qatar is considered to have an infrastructure that is undoubtedly due to its status as the host of the 2022 World Cup.

However, a major schedule change must be made if Qatar becomes the host. They are likely to stage the tournament in the winter as they did for the 2022 World Cup.

Thus, the AFC is likely to refuse because the schedule change in Qatar will force the tournament to roll in the middle of the European league season.

While Australia is considered to be experiencing a buildup of events in 2023. It is known that Australia and New Zealand are set to host the Women’s World Cup next year.

While the 2023 Asian Cup schedule ends four days before the 2022 World Cup. This condition is called not ideal and will likely be considered by the AFC.

The media also claims that Indonesia will also be faced with a buildup of events next year. The distance between the 2023 U-20 World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup is only five days.

It is known, the U-29 World Cup will be held from May 20 to June 11, 2023. Meanwhile, the 2023 Asian Cup will take place from June 16 to July 16, 2023.

“Indonesia, which once hosted the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games, also has adequate infrastructure.”

“But they will host the 2023 U-20 World Cup from 20 May to 11 June next year, leaving the same problems that ASEAN countries will experience. The same thing is facing Australia,” wrote the Joong Ang Daily.
