PSSI general chairman Mochamad Iriawan said Shin Tae-yong wanted the U-19 national team to conduct a TC (training camp) in the Netherlands. In addition to the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal become one of the options for doing TC.
However, Shin Tae-yong would prefer if Indonesia had TC in the Netherlands. According to him, some of the players of his ability will be tried by the Korean coach in the Netherlands.
“We are choosing whether in Spain or in France or in the Netherlands. Why the Netherlands? because of Shin Tae-yong’s own request and all the descendants of the players there,” said Iriawan.
PSSI itself has not confirmed where the Indonesian national team will conduct the TC. Iriawan said he wanted to hear the request directly from Shin Tae-yong himself.
In the near future, PSSI plans to meet Shin Tae-yong before Shin Tae-yong leaves and returns to South Korea.
“Before going home, Shin Tae-yong will have a meeting with us. So all of this is still in the meeting,” said Iriawan.
“So later, Shin Tae-yong will also see the players that will be taken. It’s not the players who come here, but we will go there and train with a strong team.”
The Indonesian U-19 national team is prepared as a whole to appear in the 2023 U-20 World Cup. This preparation is an important agenda for Shin Tae-yong and must be facilitated by PSSI.
The 2023 U-20 World Cup itself will be held in Indonesia. Apart from being a successful organizer, it is hoped that the Indonesian national team players will also be successful in the competition.
