Garuda Media – The naturalization process for 3 players of Indonesian descent, namely Sandy Walsh I, Jordi Amat, and Shayne Pattynama, is confirmed to be delayed until at least September 2022.

The Minister of Youth for Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Zainudin Amali, together with the DPR on Wednesday (24/8/2022) held a working meeting.

In the meeting, one of the topics of discussion was about the naturalization process of prospective Indonesian national team players.

As is known, there are currently three players who are included in the PSSI naturalization plan.

The three players are Jordi Amat, Shayne Pattynama, and Sandy Walsh which have been going on since last May.

Some time ago, Hamdan Hamedan as the Executive Committee (Exco) of PSSI revealed information related to this problem through his Instagram account.

Hamdan Hamedan said that the files for these players had arrived at the DPR. However, the request for naturalization of the three players has not been carried out by the DPR.

Because the members of the DPR are still in recess since early August. So it is certain that this process will only be carried out by the DPR in early September.

In the working meeting attended by the Menpora, the DPR said that they would work on the naturalization application in September.

“Commission X DPR RI and Kemenpora RI agreed to discuss the consideration of Indonesian citizenship for soccer athletes in early September 2022,” as quoted by from the Youtube Commission X DPR RI Channel.

This has also been confirmed by Zainudin Amali when he finished attending the meeting.

However, Zainudin Amali did not say exactly when this request would be discussed again.

Zainudin Amali argued that he also had to adjust the schedule again to discuss this case.

“We schedule September, because we have to adjust the schedule.”

“Yesterday because I had an activity, we just planned it for the beginning of September,” said Zainudin Amali.

Thus, these three players are still unable to defend the Indonesian national team in the FIFA friendly match in September.

That’s because the journey of this process still has a long way to go, it doesn’t just stop at the DPR.

They will still seek approval from the President of the Republic of Indonesia and after that they will return to the DPR again.

PSSI has confirmed that the Indonesian national team will compete against Curacao in a friendly match in September.

This match will also take place at two major Indonesian stadiums, namely Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) and Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

The first match will take place on September 24 at the GBLA Stadium, Bandung. While the second match is scheduled to take place on September 27 at JIS.
