Liverpool suffered a humiliating 1-4 defeat to Napoli in the first match of the Champions League at the Diego Maradona Stadium, Naples, Wednesday (7/9). Here are some interesting facts after Liverpool were massacred by Napoli.
️Two goals from Piotr Zielinski, Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Giovanni Simeone ensured Napoli’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool. While Liverpool were only able to reply to one goal through Luiz Diaz.
In just 47 seconds Napoli were able to threaten Liverpool’s goal through Victor Osimhen’s kick. Liverpool’s disaster occurred in the fourth minute after the Reds captain James Milner made a handball.
The referee also pointed to the white dot for Napoli. Piotr Zielinski who became the executor successfully carried out his duties well after outwitting Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Napoli lead 1-0 over Liverpool.
In the 16th minute Napoli again received a penalty after Virgil Van Dijk stepped on Osimhen’s foot in the penalty box.
The referee initially did not give a foul for the incident, but after seeing VAR the referee finally decided to award a penalty to Napoli.
Unfortunately the execution of Osimhen’s penalty could be saved by Alisson, so it did not change the score 1-0 for Napoli’s advantage.
In the 31st minute, Liverpool was unavoidable from conceding which this time was scored by Zambo Anguissa. The score changed to 2-0 for Napoli.
Liverpool had to concede again for the third time through Giovanni Simeone’s goal in the 44th minute after continuing Kvaratskhelia’s cooked pass.
Napoli also managed to close the first half match with a 3-0 advantage over Liverpool.
The second half has only been running for two minutes. Napoli were able to increase their advantage to 4-0 through Piotr Zielinski’s flick.
Liverpool were able to rise and reduce the position in the 49th minute to 1-4 through Luis Diaz’s goal. Luis Dias curled a shot from outside the box which the Napoli goalkeeper could not reach.
Until the game ended, no additional goals were able to be scored by both teams. Napoli won 4-1 over Liverpool.
