Garuda Media– The World Football Federation (FIFA) has officially lifted the sanctions against the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The confirmation was reported on the official Twitter account of the Indian National Team. They uploaded an official letter from FIFA.

“FIFA lifts sanctions against AIFF,” wrote the Twitter account for the Indian National Team.

In the letter, FIFA stated that the punishment for the AIFF was officially lifted. FIFA’s decision is based on the consideration that the AIFF has made efforts to improve the situation.

“FIFA has decided to lift the sanctions against the AIFF due to the intervention of a third party,” FIFA said in a statement.

“The decision was taken after FIFA received confirmation that the intervention of the AIFF Executive Committee had been terminated and the AIFF board had full control over the affairs of the AIFF,” FIFA said in a statement.

The sanctions lifted will automatically allow India to return to the 2022 U-17 Women’s World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in October.

“As a consequence, the 2022 Under-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled for 11-30 October 2022 can again be held in India as planned,” FIFA wrote.

FIFA also asked the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to oversee the further performance of the AIFF. Including the plan to elect a new AIFF board in the near future.
