Garuda Media– The Indonesian national team will certainly face Curacao in the upcoming FIFA Matchday, 24 and 27 September 2022. The two matches will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA).
This assurance was conveyed by PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi through the PSSI official website, Friday (19/8).
“Thank God we have made a deal with Curacao. They are a strong team, and will play twice in Indonesia, namely September 24 at the Bandung Lautan Api Stadium [GBLA] and September 27 at the Jakarta International Stadium [JIS],” said Yunus Nusi.
Yunus said PSSI had made contact with India to hold a trial on FIFA Matchday.
“The option against India was canceled because they were sanctioned by FIFA. Fortunately PSSI has not made a deal with India, so it does not interfere with preparations for the opponent in the FIFA Matchday match,” said Yunus Nusi.
Curacao national team is a country from the Caribbean Islands with a FIFA world ranking of 84. Yunus hopes that these two friendly matches against Curacao can improve the quality of the Indonesian national team ahead of the 2022 AFF Cup.
“Hopefully we will win two matches against Curacao to boost Indonesia’s FIFA rankings and as one of the preparations for the AFF Cup at the end of the year,” said Yunus Nusi.
In the last FIFA Matchday match last June, the Indonesian national team played against Bangladesh at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Soreang, and ended in a 0-0 draw.
