AFC Checks Indonesia's Readiness to Host the 2023 Asian Cup

Representatives of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted an inspection to Indonesia regarding the bid to host the 2023 Asian Cup.

A group of AFC representatives containing seven people inspected Indonesia, Thursday (30/8). They immediately checked into the stadium that was registered as a place to hold the match.

The AFC’s arrival was among other things to match the bidding submitted by Indonesia with the original conditions in the field. The inspection is carried out to check the readiness of the venue, both the venue for matches and the practice field that will be used by the team.

“PSSI welcomes the arrival of AFC representatives who came to check the stadium which is a candidate for the 2023 Asian Cup,” said Yunus Nusi.

After the bidding documents were received, the AFC immediately planned their arrival on September 1-4, 2022,” said Yunus Nusi.

Yunus said the AFC representatives were divided into several teams. This is done because the process runs quickly considering the time that is getting closer to the preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup.

“The AFC’s arrival agenda is indeed quite short. Their inspection team is divided into several teams, where each team only conducts inspections for 1-4 days.

What they make sure is that the bidding documents and venues are in accordance with their original conditions with all the facilities that meet the standards for the Asian Cup level,” continued Yunus Nusi.

Initially, AFC representatives will go to Australia after conducting an inspection in Indonesia. However, Australia has just withdrawn from the bid to host the 2023 Asian Cup.

Therefore, the AFC inspection team will immediately go to South Korea. After that, AFC representatives will fly to Qatar on September 8-10.

The 2023 Asian Cup was originally going to be held in China, but they withdrew due to the reason they were still focused on handling Covid-19. Therefore, the AFC chose a new host for the tournament.

The AFC will announce the host of the 2023 Asian Cup on 17 October. Meanwhile, the 2023 Asian Cup is scheduled to be held from June 16 to July 16, 2023.
